Bio: Does a player make a better coach or a coach make a better player? It is an interesting concept; however there is always an outlier or an exception to the rule – and that is Browny. In fact Browny’s pre game motivational monologues make about as much sense as what I have just written there. Blessed with a need to swear three words in every two, Matthew has incorporated his love of the slang into what would be described as a deplorable farcical pre-game, quarter-time and half-time ritual that causes the reserves to sound like an under 15 side from Rockingham. Matthew wears his heart on his sleeve, and his colorful approach to coaching has blessed the SNESA football club with some of the quotes of the year … “get it on the dance floor”, “f*** t**** c****” and “it’s not netball”.
The reserves side is extremely lucky that Browny has terrible hamstrings, a horrible back, an overprotective wife and no skills, as he has consistently coached the side deep into the finals in his tenure as coach. A very tough gig coaching the two’s, Browny has been consistent in his approach and professionalism and has developed a large playing base in some very difficult circumstances. There is no doubting that the boys will put their bodies on the line for their coach as Browny’s body is a reminder of what happens when you stop playing football.
